The silence is broken...
Welcome to Letter From Silent Heaven, a communal site for Konami's horror-adventure game Silent Hill 2. Here you will find rare media not seen anywhere else, in depth looks at pre-release pictures and there correlations, studies of deleted media, profound looks at influences, detailed information for the overall game, and much more.
From its launch in Japan on September 27th, 2001, Team Silent set out to bequeth the world with a highly detailed and vastly gorgeous game. Intricate detail to character development, implied textures and filters in the surroundings, and tragedies between the bonds of love are what sets Silent Hill 2 apart from its predecessors. For Silent Hill 2 is more than a horror game, it illustrates the consequences of love and desires.
Indescribable horrors and distressing misforutnes await you in the forlorn town of Silent Hill.
Born from a wish...
Letter From Silent Heaven was created for the sole purpose of showing my gratitude for Silent Hill 2. Never before have I appreciated a game and opened up my eyes to a whole new stand point as I've done with SH2.
The time and energy put into this game is remarkable. Every object and building is texturized and unique. Lighting effects were created from the physics of actual light rays. The voice acting is convincing and truly connects with the viewer. Ambience and music touch you as you continue playing onward. But most importantly, the disturbing physchological terror haunts your soul as you progress further in the game. This is what makes the game prominent - the fear of your own imagination.
Silent Hill 2's fear factor is set on manipulating your own mind; for what you hear is not always there. You can hear a bizarre resonance, and your mind will create the fear for you. The game does not have to rely soley on visual fear or the element of surprise. In fact, Silent Hill 2 stands for the opposite. The subtle revulsions and blasphemy create a sinister form of terror that the Silent Hill series is renowned for.
Silence is also sound...
